To apply to RJTA or RJTA and RJT, the first step is to send an inquiry e-mail to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. stating your interest in missionary service in Japan and giving a summary introduction of your background and sense of calling. Also indicate whether or not you already have a specific placement, sending entity, or both, and whether you are a new missionary or are already serving in Japan and would be joining from within Japan.

For FIRST-TERM missionaries who do not need or do not yet have a sending entity:

a) In your e-mail, specifically request an RJTA Long-Term application be sent to you. It will be e-mailed to you as an attachment.
b) Then, complete and return by e-mail the application form for missionary service, and provide the reference forms to a pastor, someone you've ministered with or under, and one other person who knows you well and have them return the forms directly by email to: This email address is being protected from spambots. If you are not a first-term missionary or have already applied to a specific sending entity, specifically mention this in your e-mail and ask about the streamlined "on-field join" application process.

Though one can apply to RJTA before or after applying to a sending entity and/or a local host ministry, applying to RJTA first or simultaneously can help streamline the process.
